Camp Out

Blake had a soccer game last Saturday morning and then we headed up the Beartooth Pass to go camping with Vickie and Travis (the kids' Godparents and good friends of ours).  Wyatt's palm had healed up just enough that I guess he felt like he needed to add more scrapes, bumps and bruises.  We hadn't even finished setting up camp when he fell and hit his chin on the fire pit.  Don't worry, we didn't have a fire going.  But, it still cut up his chin pretty good, and it wasn't the only time we had to bust out the first aid kit on this trip.  Wyatt was quickly back in good spirits drinking a Cinderella flavored water :)
I'll try to keep this post as short and sweet as possible, but I have A LOT of cool pics from the weekend.  Here's Blake posing on a big rock that was in our campsite.
 Cute Copa
Blake posing in front of the bear resistant food storage container.  Uh oh...it's grizzly country :)
Even though the dogs had to be tied up most of the time, they still seemed to enjoy the change in scenery.

I took Blake for a short walk at dusk to look at the lake, mountains, trees and most importantly - the moon.
We grilled out hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner and enjoyed the camp fire.  Blake got to play with her new Tinkerbell head lamp and several glow sticks & glow bracelets.  She also got to roast marshmallows and make S'mores!  Little miss chatty also talked to everyone that walked by including the camp hosts who gave both her and Wyatt their very own Smokey The Bear pins.

A good morning Wy-Guy pic (Sunday morning)
Bob walked Blake down to Island Lake, which was right in the campground, Sunday morning while Wyatt & I had an awesome breakfast at Vickie and Travis' campsite.  The kids then had a blast exploring the rocky area between the our campsites.  They are fearless...and Daddy was EXTREMELY nervous.  All-in-all both kids ended up with several new bumps, scrapes and bruises but they had a blast in the process.  Blake and Wyatt stopping for a photo opp.
 My little poser
Bob even took some pics while I wrangled the wee ones.

On our way back down the Beartooth Scenic Byway, we stopped at the vista to get a few more pics.  Daddy with the kids
Another picture of the scenery...you can kind of see some of the switchbacks that make up the highway.

We had a great time camping at 9,600 feet and travelling the Beartooth Pass at 10,947 feet.  And best of all, it's only around 80 miles from our doorstep.
