Hangin' with the Girls

Blake and Lauren went over to the Neff's this week to watch their three girls while their mom & dad were in the hospital awaiting the arrival of their new baby boy. Mom & baby are doing well as far as we know...CONGRATS Amity & Brian! We can't wait to see pics. Anyway, the girls all played great together and were perfectly well behaved. The girls even put on a play (about a prince, princess and an evil witch) for Lauren while Blake was sleeping. When Blake woke up from her nap, she got to be an honorary princess.Otherwise, things here are going pretty well. Blake still jabbers up a storm, and we're starting to be able to distinguish more words...it's more like a string of sounds that seem to be similar to something that we know she has heard. But, we're calling them words for now. A funny story from yesterday: Blake and Lauren were out on the front porch when one of our neighbors came over to see Blake. This particular neighbor has a little white dog (he looks a lot like Clancy if you remember the Lockwoods' dog). Anyway, Blake started in with her "dog dog...ruff ruff" routine that she does when she sees dogs or hears them barking. As we were chatting, we told Blake several times that the dog's name was Elmer. After the neighbor left, Blake was standing in the doorway talking to Lauren through the screen door, and she said, "Elmer...ruff ruff". It was hilarious! What's really funny is that Blake has been saying Copa a lot lately. She says, "Copa...ruff ruff". It's too cute. Well, here's a little video from the last week. We've been reading Moo, Baa, La La La before bedtime. Blake likes to read without us sometimes...you'll see in the video. It's funny to hear her say some of the words from the book as she's reading. You also might be able to hear her say Copa. She pointed to the cow on the last page in the book the other day and said, "Copa". Copa is black & white kinda like a cow, so we may have issues with her understanding what a cow is. We don't have too much for Holstein cattle around here. Anyway, you'll see in the video that Blake is becoming quite the little ham :o)

Bows for Blake

Blake's hair is getting SO long and curly that we finally had to figure out a way to keep it out of her little face. Lauren found some little, clippy bows at Target that seem to do the trick. Here's her stylish pink. She was singing when Lauren snapped this one. And, here's her purple bow.She also has bows in brown, cream, light pink, and red. They came in a little 6 pack, so you may be seeing a lot of bows in the pictures from now on :)

Blake's First Year

We decided to take Deachi's advice and put together a slide show of Blake's first year. It is pretty neat (GREAT idea, Deachi!), but here's your warning...the whole thing is almost 20 minutes long...just FYI. We had tons of pics that got left out, and it was still really tough to cut down to 20 minutes ;) ENJOY if you dare!

Chateau DeCoteau

We were blessed to be a stop on the "Million Dollar Road Trip" that JB, Andy & Mark Parsons recently took/are still taking. They were even nice enough to haul Lauren's old toy box up to us from Ponca...THANKS!!! It was GREAT to get to see everyone even though Andy didn't really get to stick around very long as he had to catch a flight out of Billings yesterday. JB and Mark even volunteered to break in the new pop-up camper that we recently acquired from some good friends of ours. Our "spare bedroom" may even be come to be known as Chateau DeCoteau...we'll see :) But, the good news is that even though it may not be the most convenient of accomodations we do actually have extra sleeping space other than the living room now. Here's a picture of the outside. The camper has two beds (1 king & 1 full), two tables with bench seating, refridgerator, oven, microwave, sink and a heater. JB and Mark used the heater since it did dip down into the 40's over night, and they gave it good reviews. So, it looks like Lauren & Blake won't get left out of the camping/fishing trips anymore. We're pretty excited to take it out soon. Here's the king bed......and the fullAnd, here's a shot of JB, Mark & Blake from this morning. Blake was still in her jammies. After JB & Mark took off for Columbus this morning, Lauren got Blake dressed and took some more pictures of our little cutie. What a goober! Here's her CHEESE for the camera.Blake pulls herself up using anything from toys to furniture to the baby gate. Here's our littly chicky hanging out trying to talk to Dad in the kitchen. And, here she is cruising from the baby gate to the toy box.
Hopefully this finds everyone enjoying the end of their summers. It feels more like fall here, but we're loving it!

Baby Steps

Blake has started pulling herself up to a standing position, and she will take baby steps holding on to something. But, she isn't off and running, yet...thank goodness :) She still jabbers up a storm and still sort of has her own language, so it's mostly just entertaining right now. Here's a video from this morning that showcases our little kiddo's new talent.

CHEESE!

Blake can wave and say, "HI" and likes to say, "cheese!" when you take pictures now. Here's our little cheese ball.

Birthday Goodies

Blake pretty much scored money, clothes, and toys for her birthday. Here she is showing off her new found skills on one of her big kid toys.Daddies always teach the most important things, don't they?!More birthday jammies
Thanks again to everyone for all the birthday wishes!

Birthday Video

Here's the birthday video as promised. Lauren tried to cut it down as much as possible, but it still ended up being a pretty long clip. In other news, Blake survived her doctor's appointment. She even got pink camo band-aids...she was SO tough. She did cry, but she soon perked up when Lauren held her up to a mirror to say HI to the baby...one of her favorite things to do :) Our girlie is 21 lbs. 11 oz. and is 29 3/8 inches long now...my how she's grown! She's in the 55th percentile in those two categories, but her noggin is in the 92nd percentile at 18 1/2 inches. It must be all those brains, right?! We do have some pics of Blake in some of her birthday jammies and a little video of her saying, "CHEESE!" for the camera. Hopefully we can get those posted either tonight or tomorrow some time.

Birthday Fun

Blake started off her birthday with a ride in her new forward facing car seat. We just ran to the post office, but she just kept laughing and talking. She seems to really enjoy being able to see what's going on up front.
Lauren decided that she would make Blake's birthday cake. We may have to re-think this for next year, but it tasted REALLY good! Although, Blake probably could have done just a good a job decorating the cake herself :)We're pretty sure Blake had a wonderful day! Here are a bunch of birthday pics...the lootBlake LOVES our remote for the TV, so we got her a Sesame Street remote.Blake's favorite part of opening gifts seemed to be reading the cards. She has recently been turning the pages for us when we read her books. She just got a kick out of looking at them...and putting them in her mouth, of course. Here's some more advanced moves with the cards. And, our little readerWe decorated her high chair for the big event, and we had to get party hats.Blake picking at the cake.more cakethe aftermathBlake was able to do a little more damage after daddy gave her a spoon :)All in all, it was a great day! We have video of Blake opening gifts and eating the cake, but it may be later on before Lauren gets the chance to go through and edit it. Our poor baby has her twelve month doctor's appointment this afternoon. THANKS for all the birthday wishes!!!

Fish On!

Blake has recently started playing with the fishing bath toy that we got her for Easter. Here's our cutie waiting for a bite.
FISH ON!!!
Blake has also started "smiling" for the camera. Here's her big cheese.
Our little sweetie pie has also been trying to stand up. She often uses the furniture for assistance.Blake is such a little goof ball. Lauren was trying to take a picture of Blake up on her knees and by the time Lauren snapped the shot this is what we got.Well, Blake is going to turn 1 year old tomorrow. Time sure flies!
