First Camp Out of the Year

It just seemed like a long week last week, so we decided to go camp out at Cooney for a night. We headed outta town on Friday after work. It still gets pretty chilly (upper 20's/30's) around the lake in the evenings, but we decided to tough it anyway. Here's Blake and Daddy hanging out at the camp site. You can see Red Lodge ski hill in the background.
Of course, Copa & Maddie got to come along and enjoy the outdoors. I think they were more excited than any of the rest of us :)

Blake helping Daddy cook dinner.

Our little missy staying warm by the camp fire. Yes, she's wearing Lauren's gloves. You know you always forget to take something when you leave the house...this time it was Blake's gloves.

Our happy little camper...

...and she's even happier with the sun shine, some juice and snacks the next morning.

Blake likes to "go walk" as she says.

Blake got her first fishing pole to take out on this trip. It's a Disney Cars pole, of course. She seemed pretty content to let Daddy do all the work for her.

Yep, that's the only fish we caught all weekend. If you look closely, it's a plastic fish that Bob found by the lake and tied it on Blake's pole for her. As always, Copa is very interested in inspecting the catch. Maddie, on the other hand, could really care less.

NOT IT...who could have possibly knocked Mom's pole into the water ;)
We did actually get to wear shorts by Saturday afternoon; we just didn't get any pics. It was great to get out of town, and Blake did really well considering it got down below 30 degrees overnight. Bob kind of got the short end of the stick because he stayed up late to fish, so by the time he was ready to go to bed there were no blankets left...oops! He ended up sleeping in the pickup, and he took Blake along to keep her toasty warm in the heated cab. Lauren wasn't exactly suffering though. She had every blanket in the camper in their absence and stayed perfectly warm cuddling with the dogs.

Hope all is well with everyone! We look forward to heading out more often as the weather gets even nicer.

I can't wait to go camping! Maybe one weekend in May before we head to Portland. It will be fun to do a weekend together soon... my kids love camping. Sorry I haven't been around much lately... busy few weeks. Headed to Nebraska in the morning for a week... then to Billings for the race the next weekend. I'm bringing Nattie for a mother-daughter weekend. Talk to ya soon! Hugs
